right string for
your playing style

Strings are notoriously complex in nature so it’s important your make some key decisions if you are going to get the most out of your racket/string setup. We have outlined the basic info you need to consider for you to choose correctly. We have deliberately tried to simplify the information to make your life a little easier!

Picking the right type of string for your playing style is the most important part of choosing your ideal string setup.

    Soft

    Hard
Natural gut ultimate comfort / power
Natural Gut contains natural serosa fibres that provide maximum power, comfort and tension maintenance. The downsides to gut are the hefty price tag and its absorption of sweat which unravels the fibres and leads to early breakage. Keep wet towels away!
Multifilament comfort / power / feel / touch
Multifilament strings are soft, comfortable and powerful strings. If you are seeking a restring that gives effortless power or you suffer from tennis elbow, then this type of string will benefit your game.
    Synthetic guts all-round
Syn Guts are fantastic value strings that are perfect for the recreational club player keeping an eye on the cost. These are relatively soft and offer good power and comfort without compromising durability.
    Hybrids custom / performance
Replicate today’s greatest players by mixing 2 opposing string types to get the best of both worlds. We have chosen winning combinations of multi/poly or syn gut/poly hybrids to give you the ultimate edge.
Polyester spin / control / durable
Polyester strings have opposite characteristics to multifilaments. They are stiff and offer the player maximum control, durability and spin potential. Poly’s are used by hard hitting players who need extra control in their game and come in all shapes from triangular to hexagonal.

  • Fine tune your tension

Experiment with varying tensions. We all have different styles of play and will thus benefit from having the strings act on the ball exactly as you wish. Long rally players may benefit from lower tensions that provide power along the walls and into back corners. Those who play the front wall with drops and boasts may prefer a tighter tension for added ball control.

Its all down to personal choice, though generally speaking, string loose for power/arm comfort and tight for accuracy/control.

    Pro tip

Choose higher tensions when hot and lower tensions in cold conditions.
